You don’t need a grill to make Jerk BBQ Chicken
No Grill? No problem. Have all the goodness of Jerk chicken fresh out of the oven with these Bakes Jerk BBQ Chicken Legs.

Everyone loves Jerk chicken. The smokey sweet flavors scream summertime. But what about the rest of the year? For some, like me grilling is not an option in the winter months.
The next best thing is Oven baked Jerk BBQ Chicken. I’ve made this with wings and even tofu. The key is the right jerk marinade and creating a good Char for your final product.
Make your own Jerk Marinade
As you will see in the recipe below, its really easy to make your own jerk marinade. As long as you have fresh ingredients and a really good blender your good to go!
I personally love using the NUTRIBULLET to make my marinade because its super strong and just the right size for the amount needed. I actually bought it to make baby food but its become my go to for sauces, marinades, puree and spice making.
Combine all the ingredients together to make a paste to which you coat your chicken with. Marinate for at least an hour, however overnight is always better in my opinion.
Creating that Classic Charred Texture
Now of course Jerk chicken on the grill is simply in its own lane of greatness. The smokey taste in particular mixed with the sweet BBQ and brown sugars in the marinate are a killer combo.
Similarly, creating the blackened skin can be achieved by broiling the chicken after its cooked. It won’t have that smokey flavor (unless you add some liquid smoke to the mix) but it will have the crispy skin we all enjoy.
In conclusion, summer flavors don’t have to end with the season. Let the flavor of Jerk last all year round.

How to Make Oven Baked Jerk BBQ Chicken
Have all the goodness of Jerk chicken fresh out of the oven with these Bakes Jerk BBQ Chicken Legs made with homemade Jerk marinade.

Start by Combining all the ingredients into a blender or food processor (I use a magic Bullet) and blend until a paste forms. Rest to the side and prepare your chicken.
First, Clean chicken legs in vinegar and lemon remove any access fat and skin where needed, then pat dry and put in desired roasting pan. Create incisions into the meat with a knife to help enhance the flavors once marinated.
Next, mix all dry ingredients together creating a rub coating the chicken legs in addition to a generous amount of jerk mixture. Let the chicken marinate for at least 1 hour ( I prefer 3 hrs to overnight).
Second, cover the pan with foil and place into the oven on 375F/175C for 40 minutes. Again check the legs, baste and brush on the BBQ sauce. Return back to the oven uncovered for another 40 minutes on 350F/150C.
Last, switch the oven to the broiler setting, resting the chicken just under the broiler for 10 - 15 minutes or until you get the preferred char on the skin. Finally remove legs from oven and allow to rest before serving.
