3 Ingredient Natural Remedy Ginger Shots

Its cold season and there’s nothing better than a good ole natural remedy to help fight back the germs.

If your anything like me home remedies using fresh and natural ingredients are the first line of defense. Now we are battling against COVID so getting in as many nutrients and vitamins as we can is crucial (as well as staying home as much as possible). I personally find natural ingredients more effective than over the counter medicines (although I’m not a doctor) for the minor sniffles.

Ginger shots have become a huge trend over the past few years in the UK. You can buy them almost anywhere nowadays but making a big batch at home saves you a tin of money rather than paying ÂŁ3 for 1 shot. Not to mention how easily accessible these ingredients are so there’s no excuse not to give it a try right?

Basic Ingredients

Making a Ginger shot is super easy and calls for only 3 ingredients:

  • Fresh Ginger
  • Lime Juice
  • Honey

That’s it! The combination of citrus, antioxidants and Vitamins is a sire way to get that built up cold out of your system and protect you from any future attacks (also including a balanced diet and proper hygiene).

How Does it Work

Again, I’m not a doctor. This is just my opinion and personal research but here are my favorite benefits of Ginger shots:

  • Ginger – helps to prevent colds and or reduces congestion and inflammation from cold symptoms.
  • Limes – Are great for strengthening the immune system. The citrus also helps to kill off bacteria and cold and flu symptoms.
  • Honey – Great for battling sore throat and cough symptoms. Also helps to make the shot taste good.

We take a shot in the morning before we start the day and one at night before bed. You can take as many shots as you wish.

Tips on Making Ginger Shots

Here are a few things I’ve learned:

  • Blend the ginger in 1 or 2 tablespoons of water then strain to get the most concentrated flavor from ginger root.
  • Make loads. There’s really no right measurement. Make it to your taste.
  • Warning, it is strong. The ginger and lime are very powerful flavors. Its not meant to taste like a cocktail.
  • Make as much or as little as you wish. This is just a guide and measurements are not really to the exact “T”.

Storing the Ginger Shots

Any air tight bottle is best. I used an old stone ginger wine bottle but a Mason jar or old jam jar will do fine. If you don’t have glass plastic works as well. This does not need to be refrigerated, however store it in a cool place.
